precautions after police issued a community alert because of an attempted sexual assault in robbery >> right on the edge of chicagos edgewater neighborhood... its a very tight knit community here the talk at zanibar café on bryn mawr is about the attempted sexual assualt less than a block away. when i moved here 4 years ago it was a very safe community feeling neighborhood but over the last couple of years it has changed you have to be more cautious. chicago police say the attack happened just before 6 o clock friday morning in this alleyway next to a church. the 30 year old woman, was on her way to the nearby 'l'

station when a man hit her several times on the head, pulled her coat over her head and started to take off her clothes... neighbors heard the woman scream and ran to help, thats when the attacker took off. this incident happening definitely sends up the red flag.. deanine johnson saw the commotion as police investigated the scene... looking for the man in this sketch.. between 18 and 25, about 6 feet tall, 175 pounds with a dark complexion and short braids. the victim said he was wearing a white coat with red stripes on the shoulders... i usually cautious on a daily basis anyway, so unfortunately im not surprised because again, there have been many men just kind of hanging out in the back alley here just about every day until recently. police wouldnt talk on camera about the incident but did send out a community alert, asking for the publics help finding the man... for now neighbors say they will be extra cautious. i dont walk with my headphones

by a bullet that came from outside the house. police say someone fired a gun through a first floor window at the home around 330 this morning. the bullet struck the 21 year-old in the back. he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later >> bond was set at $400,000 for a man accused of shooting two boys playing football in the roseland neighborhood.

investigators say a 19 year-old opened fire at them near the corner on thursday. he was taken into custody shortly after based on descriptions from witnesses. the boys were 12 years old and 14 years old. their injuries are not considered life-threatening >> funeral services were held today for a teenager who died in a car crash earlier this week. family and friends gathered to say goodbye to the 15 year-old. he died in a crash on tuesday. he was a car with three other boys. police say the under age driver lost control of the car. he was the only one not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the back seat. police say charges will likely be filed monday or tuesday >> five months have passed since a u.s. coast guard member was shot to death on chicago's south side. police still have no

at a salon outside of milwaukee was later to rest today. the 35 year-old was one of three women shot and killed. her funeral was private but that her daughter's school there was a very public events. one of her classmates organized a t-shirt sale to raise money for the family. >> i knew what it felt like... i knew i had to step up to the plate. >> the t-shirts sold out quickly and more are on order because of the high demand >> 2 more highway attacks have been linked to a string of shootings in south eastern michigan. both of today's shootings happened within a half-hour of each other on

highway. police say a driver was injured in one incident and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. no one was injured in the second shooting. police closed the highway for several of hours but were not able to locate the gunman. this is the first injury cents a highway shooting started in mid october >> after word of spain's unemployment rate hitting a record high of 25 percent in the third quarter ... citizens took to the streets of madrid to protest the government and recent budget cuts today. approximately 5-point-8 million are jobless in spain. the latest data reflects the impact of the recession, and government budget cuts aimed at restoring stability to the country's finances. a sharp fall in the number of public sector workers accounted for a large portion of the unemployment rate increase. gunfire and bomb explosions abruptly ended a cease-fire in syria after just one day. syrian war planes bombed a building in the suburbs of damascus today.

the attack comes one day after suspected rebels detonated a car bomb. the syrian government and opposition activists traded blame and gun-fire over these attacks that left an estimated 2-hundred people dead. syria was attempting to participate in a cease fire during a four-day muslim holiday. indonesian police arrested eleven people during an anti- terror raid today. authorities say the suspects belong to a new group called the sunni movement for indonesian society... or hasmi. police say they found pre-made explosives... manuals... ammunition and detonators at the scene. authorities believe the group was planning a range of attacks on domestic and foreign targets including the u-s and australian embassies. despite being sentenced to four years in prison yesterday italy's former prime minister, silvio berlusconi says he's not done with politics. he is appealing his tax fraud conviction.. and says while he will not run for prime minister next year... he will return to politics, to reform the justice

system. berlusconi, who still faces charges of having sex with an underage girl, and trying to cover it up, claims he is a victim of a dictatorship of judges. a florida teen was just trying to show his athletic prowess. instead, a car stunt goes terribly wrong and he's seriously injured. we warn you, the video may be difficult to watch. police say, 19 year old bladimir barreto was trying to jump over the moving car. he wanted to impress college football recruiters by trying this. his brother was behind the wheel...while another brother taped the action. bladmir was flown to the hospital with broken bones and head injuries. the driver is facing charges for driving without a license and reckless driving. >> the chill in the air... jim ramsey is next with

patrons of the pritzker military library attended a gala tonight, to celebrate and raise money for the library. proceeds from the "liberty gala" support the collection, exhibits, and programs of the pritzker military library, which is open to the public. the library was founded in 2003 by retired colonel james pritzker. it's located on michigan avenue across from the art instutiute. tonight, members of the military joined patrons to celebrate the work of the library whose mission is to collect and preserve the stories of our military men and women.
